Be Strong and Courageous Always

Hello Family and Friends,

The time has come for another Holwerda Family Update.

The last few months have been filled with lots of highs and lows. The last few weeks have contained a lot of lows.

After a series of headaches spanning the last few months, we decided it was time to get a MRI.  Unfortunately, the news we have to share this time around is not the news we have hoped and prayed for.  Turns out my tumor has come back.  From the looks of it, it seems to be more aggressive than originally thought. We are still looking at our options and talking to different people to determine what our next steps will be.  Our main focus still remains to do what the Lord tells us to. I will be taking time off work in order to focus on my priorities, which at the moment consist of my health, my family and following the Lord’s Will for my life. My family and I covet your prayers during this time. We continue to have hope. Hope in a God that can do more than we could ever ask for or imagine.

God continues to give us a peace that surpasses understanding. He continues to remind us that He is in control. We take comfort in knowing we are following Him and we know that His will, will be done. No matter the outcome, He will receive the glory.

We are often asked, “What can I do to help?” Well, one thing that we have loved and appreciated are the uplifting cards that we receive in the mail. Having positive and uplifting reminders help us a lot when the weight of all this becomes too much for us to carry.  A simple card reminds us we aren’t in this alone, that our support system is amazing, and that God can do so much through His children.  We’d love to receive some happy mail from you.
(If you don’t have our address, feel free to e-mail us at contact@defeatingjericho.com as we don’t want to put our private address on a public blog.)

Another way to help is prayer. Pray for guidance, and that God is evident in all our decisions. Pray for good stress management for Lindsey. She takes on a lot, and at times is overwhelmed. Pray for protection over our children as they don’t fully understand what is happening. Pray for all our needs to be met, as they faithfully have been. Pray for us to continue to “be strong and courageous” even when we feel tired and weary. Pray for healing in my body, strong faith, positive attitudes, and that all glory goes to God.

We will continue to write and update as we can. Please understand sometimes we just aren’t ready to share, and we share as we feel led to. We know it’s been awhile since our last post, and hope the next one won’t take us as long, but at times…the plate is just too full. Thank you again for your continued prayers. Thank you for continuing to walk around the walls with us. Continue to believe with us that God CAN do anything.

Being stronger and more courageous,
Brad (and Lindsey) Holwerda
